606 foreign tourists still missing in Bhotekoshi floods

Kathmandu. As many as 606 foreign tourists from 36 countries are still missing in the floods. According to the information provided by the Department of Tourism, 606 foreign tourists from 36 countries have gone missing due to floods on August 26.

Information Officer at the Department, Suraj Ghimire, said that 606 foreign tourists who had visited Gosainkunda in the Kailash Mansarovar and Janai Purnima fairs are still missing.TAG_OPEN_div_19

According to the department, 189 are from India, 33 from Australia, 30 from Canada, 55 from Malaysia, 54 from Ukraine, 32 from the UK, 65 from the US, 33 from Latvia and 37 from China.TAG_OPEN_div_17

Belarus. Tourists from Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Irish, Israel, Lithuania, Netherlands, New Jersey, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Japan, Philippines, Kazakhstan, Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland, Italy, Vietnam, Estonia and Korea have also gone missing.

As many as 188 tourists from Nepal have gone missing due to the floods. Ghimire, information officer of the department, said that Nepalis who had gone to Kailash Mansarovar and Gosaikunda to visit Kailash Mansarovar and Gosaikunda were helpful to foreign tourists. According to him, 310 foreign tourists have been successfully rescued so far.TAG_OPEN_div_13

Similarly, 13 people (three men, nine women and one other) who went missing after the floods have now come into contact. The local administration and security agencies have intensified search and relief operations for the disappeared.
