Kaski. Anjan Shrestha, president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), has said that the government should hold adequate dialogue with the stakeholders including the private sector.

Inaugurating the 30th annual general meeting of Lekhnath Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Lekhnath in Pokhara on Saturday, Chairman Shrestha said the private sector was ready to support the government to revive economic activities by resolving the problems seen in the economy.

“The government should be able to identify the problems of the economy. Only when it can find the right direction, the problem will be solved and the country can take economic momentum. The private sector is always ready to help the government,” said Shrestha.

He said that the implementation of the budget for the current fiscal year has not taken the expected pace even after three months of the announcement. President Shrestha said that the FNJ has already submitted a suggestion to the Prime Minister’s Office regarding the constitution amendment. He said that there was an urgent need for a land use policy to separate industrial, commercial, residential and agricultural sectors for the conservation of arable land.

Gandaki University Chancellor Prof Dr Indra Prasad Tiwari underlined the need of simultaneously promoting small, medium-scale and large scale industries while maintaining 82 to 85 per cent share of micro enterprises in Nepal.

Former President of FNCCI Ananda Raj Mulmi urged the FNCCI to play an effective role to address the demands of the private sector, saying the government should give institutional importance to organizations like FNCCI.

Chairperson of Rupa Rural Municipality Nawaraj Ojha said the FNCCI should play a leading role in creating investment-friendly environment, resolving problems related to loan and private investment at a time when industrialists and entrepreneurs are in crisis.

Commodity Vice President of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Naresh Lal Shrestha, said the recent flood in the Bhotekoshi river has further affected the country’s economy.

Association President Januka Parajuli said that the Association has been carrying out skill-oriented and employment generation programmes in coordination with the federal, provincial and local governments since the past one year.

On the occasion, the ‘Chandra Laxmi Senior Citizen Service’ award, established by the founding president of the association, Chandra Krishna Karmacharya, was presented to Tikaram Yatri, Editor-in-Chief of Yatri Media Network Pvt. Ltd. The prize amount is one lakh one thousand. Similarly, entrepreneur Chandra Krishna Karmacharya, who was honored with Pokhara Ratna Award, was honored with congratulations.

FNCCI central member Chhatradhar Atreya, Chief Administrative Officer of Pokhara Metropolitan City, Rajan Poudel, Press Registrar of Gandaki Province Bimala Bhandari, President of Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Shova Gautam, among others stressed on the need for the state to create investment-friendly environment to promote private sector for prosperity.
