UN General Assembly directs to prepare for address on Bhotekoshi disaster

Kathmandu. The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has directed the United Nations General Assembly to prepare for an address on the multi-dimensional aspects related to the Bhotekoshi disaster and the changing political situation.

The secretariat meeting presided over by party President Rabi Lamichhane directed the taskforce comprising the Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs to prepare their views on the issues of international relations and Nepal’s role in the world forum.

Party Spokesperson Jagadish Kharel said that the meeting decided to move ahead with the necessary strategic move after receiving the detailed report on organizational structure and performance audit of Madhes province from party coordinator and joint general secretary Hari Dhakal.

Advocates Hari Chandra Bhattarai, Sushila Simkhada, Ram Chandra Karki, Shanta Thapa, Nandan Timilsina, Rohan Bohju, Bhabindra Rai, Santosh Acharya, Santosh Bikhukhe and Shweta Kumari have been nominated as members of the Central Discipline Commission.

Gyanendra Malla has been nominated as the deputy chief of the Department of Youth Sports and Empowerment. Mahesh Bhatta, Tashi Lajom and Hikmat Jung Karki have been appointed as members of the International Relations and Diplomatic Department. Jayaram Gurung and Raj Kumar Shrestha have been appointed as members of the Public Service and Public Grievances Management Department.

Newly nominated secretariat member Biraj Bhakta Shrestha and joint spokesperson Surendra Chaudhary administered the oath of office and secrecy to party president Lamichhane.

Spokesperson Kharel informed that the meeting decided to resume all official activities of the party which were suspended due to the Bhotekoshi disaster. “Under this, the ‘We Listen’ campaign, the ‘Citizen Policy and Leadership’ campaign, the process of selection of candidates at the local level and the organizational and public relations programs will be taken forward immediately,” he said.

On the occasion, Vice-President of the party and Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle briefed the secretariat about the meetings held during his recent visit to India and the economic diplomacy.

On the occasion, party office-bearers and members briefed the party on the multi-dimensional aspects of search, rescue, relief distribution, rehabilitation and reconstruction.

The meeting also drew the attention of the government to provide relief and facilities to the victims’ families by concluding the legal process of providing death certificates with the consent of the families of those who have lost their lives in the floods at the earliest.
