Minister Sah says the ministry is making continuous efforts to ease the supply of cooking gas

Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Deepak Kumar Sah has said that the Ministry has been continuously working with all its strength and capacity to prepare a plan of short-term, mid-term and long-term solution to ease the supply of gas.

Responding to the queries of lawmakers in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Minister Khatiwada said that all stages of the supply process of LPG cylinders have been studied after carrying out program evaluation and analysis.TAG_OPEN_div_46

“The Ministry TAG_OPEN_div_44 of Finance, the Ministry of Home Affairs to reduce the time of customs clearance and the Ministry of Home Affairs to manage traffic on the roads and to temporarily increase the supply of 100 bullets of gas to 160 bullets for a week,” Minister Sah said.

He informed that an internal committee has been formed to prepare necessary guidelines to make the gas supply smooth in the short term and sustainable and systematic in the long term.TAG_OPEN_div_42

Minister Sah said, “A commitment has been received from a meeting with LPG industrialists at the Ministry to supply 50,000 cylinders per day to the Kathmandu Valley.TAG_OPEN_div_40 ”

Similarly, the government is serious about the issues raised by the honorable members regarding the price hike of essential commodities, weak market monitoring and black marketing. He said that the government is committed to taking action as per the law against those who do not allow undesirable price hike and create artificial scarcity.

“Joint and emergency monitoring teams from the Ministry, Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection and its subordinate offices have been mobilized to control undesirable price hike, artificial shortage and black marketing,” Minister Sah said.TAG_OPEN_div_36 ”

According to Minister Sah, 193 fair price shops have been operated through Food Management and Trade Company Limited and preparations are underway to run fair price shops targeting the festival through Salt Trading Corporation Limited.TAG_OPEN_div_34

According to the Special Economic Zone Act, 2073, the industries whose license has been revoked have to manage their immovable property within a year.TAG_OPEN_div_32

The Commerce Policy, 2081 BS, Nepal Trade Integrated Strategy-2080 and National Action Plan on Reduction of Trade Deficit have been updated and brought into implementation to reduce trade deficit through export promotion and import management, he said.TAG_OPEN_div_30

Stating that the Property and Liability Assessment (DDA) of Hetauda Cement Industry has been completed by the Ministry of Finance regarding the demand for operation of Hetauda Cement Industry, Minister Saha said that discussions were currently underway to take decision on the alternative of operation of the industry, financial liability, technical condition and market potential.TAG_OPEN_div_28

He informed that the ‘Mines and Minerals Bill, 2083’ has been tabled in the Federal Parliament and currently held discussions in the committee regarding the need of effective regulation by making the excavation of mines and minerals and the operation standards of stone, ballast, sand and crusher industries as timely and effective.TAG_OPEN_div_26

He further said that the concerned trade division and stakeholders have been collecting facts related to the situation of the checkpoint, infrastructures, customs process and the reasons for obstruction in the issue raised to ease trade and movement through the northern border.TAG_OPEN_div_24
