Sarlahi. The road linking Bagmati of Sarlahi and Hariharpurgadhi of Sindhuli has been obstructed due to landslides.

According to Ek Bahadur Moktan, chairperson of Hariharpurgadhi rural municipality-6, the landslide occurred last Saturday buried the road at three different places of Bagmati municipality-11.

The landslide has damaged the road and the vehicular movement along that section has come to a standstill. Due to the closure of the road, it is difficult to take the patients to the hospital.

The inter-province level road connects the East-West Highway and the Madan Bhandari Highway. The Karmaiya-Pipalmadi 16-km road has been blocked due to which the commuters have been forced to walk on foot.

People from around a dozen villages in Hariharpurgadhi rural municipality are compelled to travel to Hetauda or Sindhuli to buy daily essentials, for medicine and other purposes.

Local people are compelled to cross a long route to reach Hetauda after the road has been obstructed due to landslide, said Kismat Raj Mainali, a local entrepreneur.

He said that both consumers and traders have been facing problems due to the road blockade on the eve of the festival. Karma Lama, a transport entrepreneur, said that the Bolero and other small vehicles operating on the Karmaiya-Pipalmadi road have to be parked.

Locals have complained that they are compelled to walk and carry rice and lentils on plates due to disruption of transport services.

The Karmaiya-Pipalmadi road section, which is the link road linking Bagmati and Madhes provinces, has one and a half kilometers road towards Sarlahi.
