KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli has left for New York of the United States of America today leading a Nepali delegation to the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

PM Oli departed for Qatar via Doha on a Qatar Airways flight from Tribhuvan International Airport this evening, PM’s press and research expert Deepa Dahal said.

Charge d’ Affaires of Nepal to Qatar Kumar Rai and senior officials at the Embassy of Qatar will welcome PM Shah at the Hamad International Airport in Doha.

Prime Minister Shah will leave Doha for New York at 1:45 pm local time on Wednesday. He will be received at the John F Kennedy International Airport in New York by Nepal’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Lok Bahadur Thapa and Nepal’s Charge d’ Affaires to the United States of America Sharad Raj Aran among other officials.

On the same day, Prime Minister Shah will visit Nepal’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations. The Foreign Secretary, Nepal’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Charge d’ Affaires of Nepal to the United States and Nepal’s Consul General in New York will brief him about his visit. Thereafter, Prime Minister Shah will attend a ceremony to be organized in his honour by the Permanent Representatives of Nepal.

On September 22, Prime Minister Shah will hold a meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. After that, Prime Minister Shah will address the United Nations General Assembly on behalf of Nepal.

Prime Minister Shah will leave for Doha from New York on September 22. He will be seen off by Nepal’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Thapa and Nepal’s Charge d’ Affaires to the United States of America Aran and other officials at the John F Kennedy International Airport in New York. Prime Minister Shah is scheduled to return home on September 26.
