KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) is going to introduce new banknotes of Rs 1,000 denomination of 2025 series into circulation. The bank is going to bring new banknotes prepared by changing the color of the previous form from today (September 22).

According to the central bank, the new note has a combination of light green color inside the purple color circle. The symbol number of the note will start with 92000001.

On the obverse of the new note, there is a picture of Mount Everest, while on the right is a watermark of Laligurans and below it is a watermark of ‘1000’. Similarly, there is a blue ‘Sea Throw Register’ which shows ‘1000’ in full view of the light.

Roman letters have been placed at the bottom to make it easier for a visually impaired person to identify the rate of the note through touch. There are also 10 horizontal lines on the left side of Mount Everest and on the right side of the water print.

The note has an image of Bhagwati in an oval shape on the right side of Mount Everest. According to the Rastra Bank, the painting has been prepared in such a way that it looks golden when viewed directly and green when tilted.

Similarly, a 3.5 mm wide security thread has been used in the note. The mobile security thread, which looks red when viewed directly and green when tilted, has ‘NRB’ and ‘1000’ marked on it.

The new note bears the signature of Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Prof. Dr. Bishwanath Poudel. The series number ‘2082 BS’ is mentioned at the bottom of the note.

On the back of the note, there is a picture of twin elephants named Ram and Lakshman, who are considered to be rare among the Nepali elephants in the government elephant in Chitwan district. ‘Nepal Rastra Bank’ is written above the picture.
