Unseasonal snowfall in Korlana area, disrupting the movement of containers

Kathmandu. The Nepal-China North Korea region, which is located at an altitude of 4,610 meters above sea level, has received unseasonal snowfall. The areas of Korlana have been covered with snow due to snowfall on Thursday night.

Due to snowfall in the Korlana area, there is a problem in the movement of export and import containers. The Korlana area of Upper Mustang received snowfall in the month of September when winter is beginning every year. Due to snowfall, the hills along the border of Upper Mustang have become snow-white.

The District Administration Office (DAO) has issued a notice directing the people not to travel on the roads from Kavrebhir to Upper Mustang as the road from Kavrebhir to Upper Mustang may be disrupted due to floods, landslides, river erosion and other adverse weather. Assistant Chief District Officer Ekraj Bhandari informed that the vehicular movement has been banned from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am for four days from Thursday night to minimise possible disasters and damages.TAG_OPEN_div_18

Gharpajhong Rural Municipality has requested the people living near the coastal area to take precaution by miking from Friday.

Similarly, the rain has increased the risk of traditional houses built of old stones and mud in Mustang. Sarita Thakali, a local of Thini in Gharpajhong-5, said that the houses made of old stones and mud have been facing problems due to continuous rain.
