KATHMANDU: Founding leader of the Citizen Unmukti Party Resham Chaudhary has said that he believes that Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa can lead the country.

On the occasion of inauguration ceremony of the 15th General Convention of the Nepali Congress, Chaudhary expressed the belief that Thapa, who had struggled for the establishment of republic, would now play a leading role in nation building.

“I believe Gagan can lead this country,” he said, adding, “The one who played a role in bringing the republic will definitely play a role in building this country.” ’

Stating that the Nepali Congress had played an important role in drafting the constitution, Chaudhary said that the change in the party has instilled confidence in him.

He also complained that although the rights of the Tharu and other communities are written in the constitution, the rights have not been given in practice. “Rights were written in the constitution, but they were not given. Identity cannot be exchanged,” he said.
