Praising the private sector, President Poudel said that the government should create policy stability, security of investment, infrastructure development and business-friendly environment

KATHMANDU — President Ram Chandra Poudel has said that building a prosperous Nepal would not be possible only through the efforts of the government or any one sector, but through the common national resolve of the state, private sector and the entire society.

During a meeting with the office-bearers of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) here today, he expressed the hope that the private sector would play a more responsible, creative and leading role to translate the campaign of building a prosperous Nepal into practice. He praised the contribution of the private sector in the economic prosperity of Nepal.

President Poudel said that collaboration between the government and private sector was essential to make Nepal’s economy dynamic, production-oriented and competitive. Stating that the organizational expansion of the FNCCI and the progress of more than 14 lakh entrepreneurs associated with the FNCCI were the progress of the entire country, he said the role of the private sector was important in economic development, employment generation and improvement in the living standard of the citizens.

He said that the government should create policy stability, security of investment, infrastructure development, easy administration and business-friendly environment while the private sector should further expand investment, production, entrepreneurship, innovation and job creation. President Poudel said that trust and cooperation between these two sides could build a strong base for economic prosperity.

He said that the priority ahead should be to focus on increasing production, promoting exports, attracting domestic and foreign investment, creating employment and enhancing the competitive capacity of the Nepali economy. He said that the potential available in hydropower, tourism, agriculture and agro-based industries, information technology and manufacturing sectors should be utilized in a result-oriented manner.

President Poudel said that it is a shared responsibility to create opportunities and possibilities of entrepreneurship especially for the youth of the country within the country. He expressed the belief that FNCCI would play a more leading role in taking Nepali products, services and enterprises to the world market by connecting its national network with the international financial network in the present era of digital transformation and global competition.
