Kathmandu. A total of 250 families of Ekdara Rural Municipality-1 (erstwhile Ekdara VDC Ward Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6) of Mahottari district have received land ownership certificates after 14 years of completion of measurement audit.
As many as 250 local families who have been living as residents for a long time have now formally acquired the legal ownership of their land. The Survey Office, Mahottari, has distributed land ownership certificates to them after completing the necessary procedures.
The measurement work of the area was completed in 2069.70 BS. However, even after the measurement was completed, the necessary legal and administrative procedures could not be completed due to which the land ownership certificates could not be distributed for a long time. Continuing the process which was stalled for a long time, 250 land ownership certificates have been distributed now.
With the receipt of the land ownership certificate, the ownership of the land of the families living as Swawasi has been established. After the registration of the land and the distribution of land ownership certificates, the local residents will be able to get legal and financial benefits.
After getting the land certificate, it will be easier to take a loan by mortgaging the land with banks and financial institutions. Similarly, it will be easier to settle the land dispute once the ownership of the land is clear.
