Customers attracted to festival-friendly food outlets

KATHMANDU: Consumers have been attracted to the subsidized outlet operated by the main branch office of Food Management and Trading Company Limited in Nepalgunj in view of the festivals. After the Nepalgunj Customs Office tightened the import of rice from the Indian border market Rupaidiha, consumers have started reaching the subsidized outlet of Food Management and Trading Company Limited to buy rice at a subsidized rate.

Shivaraj Ghimire, information officer of Bhoktaka Attraction Limited, said that the discount on all types of rice has been arranged at Rs 500 per quintal in Nepalgunj targeting the festivals like Dashain, Tihar and Chhath. “The center has set a target of selling 100 quintals of rice during the festival period,” he said, adding, “So far, more than 75 quintals of rice has been sold.” ”

According to Ghimire, Aruwa Motha, Aruwa Medium, Medium Silky, Steam Masino Jeera and Steam Jeera Fortified Rice are being sold from the sales center. He said that consumers are attracted to buy rice as the rate of rice sold at subsidized prices is lower than the market price.

Information Officer Ghimire said that although the target is to sell one hundred quintals of rice, the required quota can be added in coordination with the Department of Sales and Distribution Headquarters, Kathmandu.
