Lions donates Rs 26 lakh to flood victims

Kathmandu. Relief materials have been distributed to the residents of Gaindakot-2 of Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Susta East) who were affected by the floods in the Narayani River on September 26. Lions Club International District 325R today provided essential food and consumables worth Rs 2.6 million to the flood victims here.

District Governor of the club, Prabhakar Pandit, informed that all the food and consumables required for the family have been distributed to 200 families. According to him, each family has been provided with hygiene kits, water, buckets, cooking materials (Decchi, Dadu, Panyu, etc.), black mats, tarpaulins, food items (including lentils, rice, salt, oil), vinegar, mattress, bed sheets and pillows.

He said that the local clubs have distributed relief materials with the help received from Lions Club International. Pandit said that Lions Club International has provided $15,000 to distribute relief materials to the flood victims of Gaindakot.

“We used the amount to feed four meals a day to all the flood survivors here immediately after the floods”, he said, adding, “We distributed the relief materials today after adverse weather conditions.” ”

On September 26, the Narayani river was the biggest flood in its history. According to the water measurement center at Devghat of the river, the water level in the river reached 11.93 meters on the afternoon. The water level in the Narayani river is 7.3 meters and nine meters is considered the danger level.
