Nepal Army resumes Bailey Bridge at Betrawati

Kathmandu. After the Bhotekoshi floods, connectivity has been established with Rasuwa district through road network. With the operation of the bailey bridge constructed by the Nepal Army in Betrawati, other districts have been connected to the district through transportation.

The flood in the Trishuli River via Bhotekoshi swept away two cemented bridges linking Bidur municipality-10 and Uttargaya rural municipality-5, Betrawati.

Major General of the Nepal Army, Anupjung Thapa, said that with the operation of the bridge, it will be easier for the people of Nuwakot and Rasuwa to travel and transport necessary relief and essential goods to the flood-affected areas. According to him, the Nepal Army has completed the bridge over the Falakhu River in Betrawati.

Major General Thapa said, “There was no access road to reach Betrawati after the flood washed away the access road to Betrawati”. ”

Major General Thapa handed over a report on the bridge construction to Krishna Nath Ojha, chief of the Galchhi-Trishuli-Mailung-Syafrubesi-Rasuwagadhi Road Project Office.

According to Nepal Army Spokesperson Brigadier General Rajaram Basnet, the Bailey Bridge is capable of carrying 40 tons of load. It is 73.2 meters long and 5.5 meters wide. The construction of a road network has made it easier to reach Dhunche of Rasuwa through the bridge to reach Betrawati directly from Bidur of Nuwakot. It has become easier to transport essential goods including food items to the flood-affected areas of Rasuwa as vehicles can cross the bridge of Betrawati and reach Trishuli Bari of Syafrubesi via Dhunche of Rasuwa via Pasang Lhamu road.

The Bailey Bridge constructed in Betrawati has also facilitated the operation of the road from Syafrubesi to Rasuwagadhi under the Galchhi-Rasuwagadhi road. The Nepal Army has been providing relief and essential materials including search and rescue in the flood-affected areas.

The Nepal Army had installed a bailey bridge over the Tadi River at Devighat, which was damaged by the Bhotekoshi floods, and connected Nuwakot and Dhading with direct contact. The Nepal Army is making necessary facilitation to restore the road network with bridges in the remaining places damaged by the floods.
