Kathmandu. The 4.55 MW Upper Machhakhola Small Hydropower Project operated by the Bikash Hydropower Company Limited has been completely shut down due to the massive flood in the Budhi Gandaki River.

According to the company, the power generation has come to a standstill after the flood on the morning of October 10 caused major damage to the transmission line of the project. As the details of the damage to the transmission line are yet to be received, it is not yet known how long it will take for the project to resume.

According to the company, it is not possible to give clear information about the assessment of the damage, the time taken for maintenance and the time to resume power generation. This has made the operation of the project uncertain.

According to the company, mobilization of required human resources, management of materials required for maintenance and reconstruction of damaged structures may face more challenges due to the approaching Bada Dashain festival.

However, the company has stated that necessary maintenance and resumption of the project will be carried out after carrying out a detailed assessment of the damage.

The timing of resumption of the project has become uncertain as the power generation of the project has been affected due to the damage to the transmission line due to floods.
