Kathmandu. The Prithvi Highway will be closed from 11:00 pm today to 5:00 am tomorrow due to road maintenance in Galoundi area of Dhading.

Issuing a notice today, Chief District Officer of Dhading, Laxmi Pandey (Gautam), informed that the vehicular movement has been stopped on the highway for the maintenance of the road at Gajuri Rural Municipality-5 due to the erosion of the Trishuli river.

The highway was blocked on Friday, October 9. The highway, which was opened after a day-long effort on October 10, will be closed tonight for further maintenance.

The closure of the national highway on the eve of Dashain has caused problems in vehicular movement. National President of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs Punya Prasad (Saroj) Sitaula said that the closure of the highway during Dashain has posed a challenge in vehicular movement.

“Thousands of passengers have booked tickets in advance on the eve of Dashain, in such a situation, the closure of the highway has caused problems for the transport entrepreneurs as well as the general passengers,” he said. A total of 207,251 passengers have left the National Bus Park in Kathmandu from October 3 to 25 to celebrate Dashain.

General Manager of Lhotse Multipurpose Pvt Ltd, Pankaj Malla, said that 207,251 passengers left the new bus park from October 1 to 12.
