Trump cancels plans to ‘livestream’ executions

. US President Donald Trump has said that the execution of the death penalty by ‘firing squad’ for the man responsible for shooting on a military base will not be livestreamed. He canceled the controversial plan of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

The plan to live stream Nidal Hasan’s execution was widely opposed at home and abroad. American Democratic and Republican politicians, the Catholic Church, rights groups, and the United Nations expressed outrage.TAG_OPEN_div_26

The decision to cancel this is a big blow to Hegseth. He is already criticized for the impasse of the Iran war and its impact. This is affecting the Republican Party’s chances in the upcoming midterm elections.

“Hassan will die by the firing squad in due course, but this event will not be livestreamed,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform on Thursday.TAG_OPEN_div_22

The US president indicated that he would not oppose the plan to be shown in person. “It could have shown the world how the US deals with terrorists and garbage like Hassan,” he said. ”

Hassan’s execution, scheduled for Dec. 3 at Fort Hood, Texas, in 2009, will be the first execution by a U.S. military firing squad since 1945.TAG_OPEN_div_16

Hegseth confirmed plans to live stream it last week, saying, “We’re going to make sure people can see it, it’s public.”TAG_OPEN_div_14 ”
