Health Ministry directs hospitals to resume essential services during Dashain holidays

Kathmandu. The Ministry of Health and Food and Hygiene has sent a letter to the Ministry of Health of the province and all federal government hospitals to provide easy, accessible and continuous health services to the citizens during the Dashain holidays.

The ministry has urged the authorities concerned to make necessary arrangements to prevent the disruption of essential health services during the Dashain holidays. The ministry has requested the hospital to prepare a duty roster of the required health workers and other staff, arrange adequate manpower and ensure that emergency services, emergency surgeries, maternity services, and intensive care services are run regularly.

The ministry has also directed the hospitals to keep adequate stock of essential medicines, health equipment, blood and blood products and other medical supplies and be ready to provide immediate services in case of emergency. The ministry has also urged the hospitals not to completely close the hospital during the Dashain holidays and not to disrupt essential health services under any circumstances.

Hospitals will have to appoint a focal person to address and coordinate the problems and complaints that may arise during the delivery of services. In addition, the details including the name, designation, contact number and duty roster of the contact person should be compulsorily sent to the email address specified by the ministry.

The Ministry has urged the bodies concerned to ensure easy access to essential health services during the Dashain holidays by implementing and monitoring the provisions mentioned earlier.
