Kailali. Dhangadhi: Dhangadhi Bazaar and other nearby areas have been inundated today due to incessant rain since last night. Mainly, Bishalnagar, Milanchowk, Shivanagar, Hasanpur, Campus Road, Malika Tole, Krishnanagar, old customs katan village of Dhangadhi and surrounding areas have been inundated.
Similarly, most of the shops have also been inundated. Heavy rains have completely filled the roads and drains, making it difficult for the general public to walk on the road. Such a situation arises every year due to the lack of release due to the lack of drainage due to unmanaged and old drains.
According to the locals, the settlements here are inundated year after year due to encroachment of old rivulets where water is released. Shivaraj Joshi, a local leader, said that the settlements are inundated due to the pitch of the road and not the management of sewage.
Chairperson of Ward No. 2, Dharma Raj Ojha, said that the problem of inundation is recurring due to the erosion of old rivulets. According to the District Police Office, Kailali, although various places in Dhangadhi have been inundated, there has been no human or physical damage.
