Spain. The 4th International Conference on ‘Finance for Development’ of the United Nations has begun at the Fabis Exhibition Center in Sevilla, Spain.

Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, heads of state, government and representatives of the world are participating in the conference. The inaugural session was addressed by King PhilipPE II of Spain, President of the Government of Spain (Prime Minister) Pedro Sánchez and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

Pm Oli is accompanied by Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Amrit Bahadur Rai, Permanent Representative of The Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations Lok Bahadur Thapa and Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Kumar Raj Kharel.

Pm Oli’s visit came at the friendly invitation of UN Secretary-General Guterres and Spanish Prime Minister Sánchez for the International Conference on Financing for Development of United Nations (FFD-40). Leaders of all governments, global and regional institutions, financial and business organizations, businessmen, civil society and representatives of the United Nations system are participating in this conference on finance for development.

Nepal will also lead the voices of the least developed, small and island countries in the conference. Discussions will also be held on the implementation of investment commitments made by rich countries for poor and small countries. The forum is expected to be critical in promoting international cooperation for the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to be completed by 2030.

The summit will focus on the challenges of immediate and long-term support and investment needed for sustainable development while improving the global financial structure. It will discuss and conclude on issues such as sustainable development, finance for development, and especially development assistance, investment and technology transfer.
