Lalitpur Metropolitan City pays Rs 10 million for health insurance for single women and sanitation workers

Lalitpur. Lalitpur Metropolitan City has provided health insurance to single women and sanitation workers within the metropolis.

The Metropolitan City TAG_OPEN_div_23 on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Health Insurance Board regarding the premium management of health insurance and paid Rs 10 million as premium.

TAG_OPEN_div_21 Metropolitan City Mayor Chiribabu Maharjan and Executive Director of Insurance Board Raghuraj Kafle jointly signed the MoU. As per the agreement, the metropolis will pay 100 per cent premium for the health insurance of the city police, sanitation workers, motorists and single women and toll health catalysts (THPs) residing in the metropolis. The KMC had started the health insurance programme two years ago with technical assistance from Patan Hospital.

Mayor TAG_OPEN_div_19 chiribabu Maharjan said that every effort has been made for the health treatment of the people of the metropolis. “We have collaborated with Patan Hospital to facilitate the management of oxygen up to the patient’s bed and provided facilities for the management of ‘mortuary house’ to manage the dead bodies,” he said. ’

Mayor Maharjan said TAG_OPEN_div_17 that the health center has been arranged for the treatment of health insurance and more than 300 people come to get daily services in a place with a capacity of 210 people. “This agreement signed with the Health Insurance Board has created more responsibilities,” he said, adding, “We have worked to some extent in coordination with the pioneer hospital of the country. ’

Executive Director TAG_OPEN_div_15 of the Board Raghuraj Kafle said that good work has been started from the metropolitan city. “Another 752 local levels should also learn from this. “The performance of the last few years has firmly established its role,” he said, adding, “Millions of people at the grassroots level who are unable to get health insurance are connected and the state cannot take it away even if it wants to.” Health insurance has become a support for the destitute in 753 municipalities and seven provinces. We are happy that Lalitpur Metropolitan City is engaged in a model work to insure the citizens. ’
