Simkot. Telephone service has been disrupted in different settlements of three local levels of Humla. Service providers in Kharpunath, Sarkegad and Changkheli rural municipalities have been facing problems due to non-functioning of telephone services in various wards.

Shanti Shahi, a local, said telephone service has been disrupted in Pius, Bochegouda and Sunkhada of Kharpunath rural municipality-1 and Raya and Karanga of ward no 3.

Shahi said telephone services have stopped functioning in the area in the morning, afternoon and evening for more than two weeks. According to him, the tower comes only at night. The service providers here have been deprived of communication as the tower located at Thana in Raya is not working.

Similarly, nepal telecom has not been working in Syaltadi, Rip and Unapani villages of Sarkegad rural municipality.

Binod Phadera of Reep village said that there was a problem in not having a tower to call even though there was a sudden damage due to rain during the change in weather. He said that even if the tower is shown on the mobile, the phone does not get the phone. Similarly, The Namaste Telephone Service has not been able to work in the municipality center Sarkegad, said Gagan Aidi, who has been doing business in Sarkegad.

Changkheli Rural Municipality Centre without communication

Piplang, the centre of Changkheli rural municipality in the southern part of the district, has been deprived of telephone service for almost a month. According to the locals, they have to go to the hills to make a telephone call. Not only the rural municipality center, but in most of the rural areas, there is still a problem in the network due to the tower. When the network does not work, there is a compulsion to climb high places or trees to find towers.

Basuna Tamang, a local, complained that people’s representatives and employees did not have access to the rural municipality centre as the phone was not the medium of information. Although Nepal Telecom has initiated the process of constructing 4G towers so that the network can be accessed at the rural municipality center, it has not been completed.

Rural municipality chair Pyari Lal Shahi said telephone service was disrupted due to a problem with the Nepal Telecom tower at Melchham in the municipality. Lack of communication facilities at the rural municipality centre has made it difficult to carry out day-to-day tasks, he said.

There is also a compulsion to go to the hill to talk when the telephone kept in the rural municipality office does not work. Although most of the grievances and problems of the people are resolved on the phone, the general public is forced to go to the rural municipality due to lack of communication facilities, shahi said.

Chief Administrative Officer Deepak Giri said that although the internet installed in the rural municipality is not reliable, the letters of the office are being exchanged using the work. Although the rural municipality has installed wireless internet of a private company, the bank’s branch has not been opened in the rural municipality center for a long time due to lack of internet due to lack of effective internet.
