Kathmandu. Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank Dr. Bishwanath Poudel has said that there would be a risk of sinking the deposits of the people while giving loans to those who do not know how to do business.

He said this in a discussion with the members of the finance committee to register an amendment proposal in the bill to amend the Banking and Financial Institutions Act, 2073 BAFIA.

He said that if the bank gives loans, all the borrowers will not come out as businessmen. He said that giving loans to those who do not know how to do business would put people’s deposits at risk of sinking.

“It is the fiscal policy that drives the development of the country. “We will take steps only if the financial policy takes the lead,” he said, adding that although there is sufficient liquidity in the bank, there can be no demand for it if the businessmen and farmers do not have adequate skills. Giving loans does not result in successful business. He said that the policy of the state should be that the people can invest by taking money from the bank.

Monetary policy alone cannot cover everything, he said. He said the government should bring investment-friendly programmes through the finance policy. He said that the programs taken through financial policy can move the country towards prosperity.
