Kanchanpur. Kanchanpur: An awareness programme has been launched in Kanchanpur as the risk of dengue has increased with the rainy season. Kanchanpur: The Health Office, Kanchanpur has launched an awareness programme in the municipalities regarding the search and destruction of larvae by identifying the habitat of dengue mosquitoes. Siddharaj Bhatta, malaria inspector at the Health Office, Kanchanpur, said that dengue control has been started by keeping the courtyard clean and removing the water-logging areas.
According to him, the society leaders are being informed about the destruction of mosquito habitats and keeping the water-logged areas (vases, buckets, tires, drums, coolers, tanks, plastic utensils, etc.) clean to prevent dengue infection.
According to him, the participants are being taught how to identify mosquito larvae by visiting different places, surveying the places where water is collected and spreading awareness.
He said that since it is time for mosquitoes to be more active in the morning and afternoon, wearing long-sleeved clothes, not keeping the body open, using mosquito repellent cream, keeping the house clean, netting windows, doors, and using swings at bedtime are being done through the program.
“If you have symptoms of dengue (fever, headache, bone pain, etc.), you should go to the health facility immediately,” he said. Awareness programmes against dengue are being carried out in coordination with the municipalities, he said.
Giving information about dengue disease, its symptoms, life cycle of mosquitoes and control measures, he said that dengue is a disease transmitted by female mosquitoes of Aedes aegypti species.
“Dengue mosquitoes often bite in the morning and afternoon,” he said, adding, “Its life cycle consists of eggs, larvae, pupae and adult stages. ’
He said that the work of throwing water from the water-logged utensils should be done. Stating that there is high fever, headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle and bone pain, etc. in case of dengue infection, he said that there is no specific medicine for dengue disease, so the main way is to avoid the bite of mosquitoes that infect the disease by staying alert.
“We have already completed the programme in Shuklaphanta municipality,” he said, adding, “Preparations are underway to conduct the programme at two places in Krishnapur municipality. Personal hygiene, community awareness and collaboration among government agencies are very important for the control of dengue disease,” said Durga Dutta Bhatta, chief of Pipaldi Health Post. ’
Kanchanpur: A total of 29 people have been infected with dengue in Kanchanpur since Mid-July. According to health workers, dengue infection can increase further during the rainy season.
