Kathmandu. Kathmandu: The government has honoured 30 business companies and organizations with important business persons (CIP) awards.
Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Damodar Bhandari presented the CIP award at a programme organized by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies in collaboration with the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) in Kathmandu on Wednesday. Among the recipients of CIP, 21 are commercial firms and companies, while nine private sector representative organizations have received honorary CIP.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Damodar Bhandari said the collaboration with the private sector would be further strengthened for the prosperity of the country. He said the CIP summit would play a more effective role in promoting exports by keeping the morale of industrialists high. “It’s not an honour for honor. We want to be more generous and respect the private sector. Economic development and prosperity is not possible unless the morale of the private sector is high. Therefore, we want to move forward by collaborating for the prosperity of the country,” he said.
He said the government and the private sector should work together to chalk out a strategy for the coming days as Nepal is going for LDC graduation in 2026.
On the occasion, Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Chandra Prasad Dhakal said nepal’s exports could reach around Rs 1 trillion annually. He opined that nepal’s export potential could reach around Rs 1 trillion annually and foreign investment from zero.2 per cent of gdp to 10 per cent in a few years.
Dhakal said the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and the private sector have been advocating various programmes and policies for the expansion of the sluggish economy and promotion of investment in Nepal.
“We raised the issue of problems in investment laws. The government amended the law. An agreement is necessary for the promotion of bilateral investment. The government has prepared a blueprint for it. “We have proposed a reform commission as a new phase of economic reforms is necessary,” he said. We formed a commission and submitted our suggestions to the government. Not only has the government adopted it, but some suggestions have also been included in the budget and monetary policy. I thank the government for all this. ’
Stating that the CIP Award, an important business person, encourages businessmen to do business with respect, Chairman Dhakal said that the government and the society give utmost importance to the people who are honored in this way as per the international practice. He also suggested that CIP Day should be celebrated every two years by fixing a fixed date for providing CIP.
Dhakal opined that with these reforms, the role that the private sector can play in Nepal’s economy and it has the potential to change the face and shape of the economy. He urged the government to implement it as he had raised the issue of dignity of the private sector and it would encourage the private sector a lot.
30 business companies and organizations with important business persons (CIP) honors
The government has conferred the Important Business Person (CIP) award to 30 business companies and institutions. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli presented the CIP award at a programme organized by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies in collaboration with the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
Among the recipients of CIP, 21 are commercial firms and companies, while nine private sector representative organizations have received honorary CIP. Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Chandra Prasad Dhakal, Nepal Chamber of Commerce President Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal and Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) outgoing President Rajesh Kumar Agrawal were honoured with the honorary CIP award.
These organizations have been honored for their significant contribution to the economic development by doing promotional work in the export trade as well as commerce sector. Similarly, presidents of Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal and Federation of Export Entrepreneurs have been awarded honorary CIP. Nepal Chhurpi Entrepreneurs Association, Jhapa, Nepal Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association, Nepal Readymade Garment Industry Association and Nepal Woollen Felt Manufacturers and ExportErs Association have been honoured with honorary CIP awards. They have been awarded the award on the basis of their total exports of Rs 5 billion or more to third countries in the fiscal years 2079÷80 and 2080÷81.
Similarly, one businessman from each of the top five exporters of goods to third countries has been awarded the CIP award. Likewise, Third Eye International in woollen carpet category, Nepal Fashion Pvt Ltd in readymade garments, National Exports Pvt Ltd in woollen felt, Manram Himalayan Handicraft Pvt Ltd in chhurpi and Trikot Industries in pashmina items have been honoured with CIP award.
Similarly, Dabur Nepal Pvt Ltd, Aarti Strips and Reliance Spinning Mills Limited have been honoured on the basis of export amount from India, while Chomen Traders, Finzo Sonam Enterprises and Ashtamangal Kathmandu have received CIP award on the basis of export amount from China. Similarly, Gift Land Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. is the largest exporter of handicraft products reflecting Nepal’s original skills, art and culture. Ltd. It has also received the CIP award.
Similarly, Nepal Everest Cardam Production Jhapa and AB Herbal Traders and Suppliers Darchula have received the award among the exporters who exported agricultural products. Similarly, Janakpur Refinery Kathmandu has been awarded the highest amount of exporter in terms of total amount in export trade, while The Shangri-La Carpet and Handicraft, Everest Fashion and Triveni Spinning Mills Limited and Wonderful Craft Pvt Ltd Kathmandu have received CIP award for startups among industries, organizations, firms or companies that exported one billion or more to third countries in the last two financial years.
Similarly, IME Limited has been awarded the highest foreign exchange company through the banking system and Everest Hospitality Hotel Limited has been awarded the CIP award for the highest foreign exchange earner in the tourism sector.
