Ministry spokesperson Narayan Mainali said the dharahara would be made public for 12 hours from today. Earlier, it was open from 10 am to 4 pm every day and it will remain open from 8 am to 8 pm from today, he said.

“Now we are operating dharahara in two shifts. Public holidays will also be open for those who want to visit Dharahara,” narayan said. Dharahara, which collapsed in the April 2017 earthquake, was reopened on a trial basis from September 15 after the reconstruction. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakash Man Singh said preparations have been made to extend the operation period of dharahara in two shifts considering the suggestions of the citizens.

According to the Central Project Implementation Unit (Building and Housing) under the Ministry of Urban Development, rs 43.393 million revenue has been collected from ticket sales in the seven months of the earthquake-damaged Dharahara reconstruction.

So far, 237,065 people have visited the dharahara which is being operated under the unit. The dharahara is being operated as per the Special Structure Operation and Management Development Committee (Formation) Order-2081 BS.
