Nepal participates in World Veterinary Association General Assembly, urges support for development of veterinary sector

Kathmandu. Nepal Veterinary Association has participated in the 2025 General Assembly of the World Veterinary Association. Dr Sheetal Kaji Shrestha, former president of the Association, participated in the General Assembly held in Washington DC, USA on Friday.

Dr Shrestha also represented saarc veterinary association and participated in the general assembly. Addressing the General Assembly, he highlighted the contribution of veterinary doctors in Nepal and urged other countries to cooperate in the development of veterinary sector in Nepal.

Stating that Nepal was ready to host any event of the World Veterinary Association, Dr Shrestha expressed the belief that the SAARC Veterinary Association would soon become a member of the World Veterinary Association.

Dr Shrestha is the general secretary of SAARC Veterinary Association. A total of 120 delegates from 90 countries participated in the General Assembly held on July 18. Four other countries, including Nepal, addressed the General Assembly.

On the sidelines of the General Assembly, Dr Shrestha called on the presidents of the Veterinary Associations of Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and the Philippines and stressed the need to move ahead by collaborating on the problems and opportunities of the veterinary sector. The Next General Assembly of the World Veterinary Association will be held in Tokyo, Japan. Nepal has been a member of the World Veterinary Association since 1998.
