Kathmandu. Kathmandu: The Politburo meeting of the Ruling Nepal Communist Party (UML) has approved the statute amendment report.

The fourth plenary meeting held at the party headquarters in Chyasal, Lalitpur today unanimously approved the statute amendment proposal report passed by the central secretariat meeting, said UML publicity department chief Rajendra Gautam. Party vice-chair Bishnu Prasad Poudel presented the constitution amendment proposal report in the meeting.

A total of 68 politburo members expressed their views on the constitution amendment report at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister and party chair KP Sharma Oli, according to Publicity Department Chief Gautam. According to him, there are two provisions for organized membership and party membership in the party, the age limit of 70 years and the provision of two terms in the leadership. Similarly, it has been agreed to take the district committee as the executive committee.

Gautam said that the meeting also discussed the issue of renewal of party membership of former President Bidya Devi Bhandari and joining active politics of the party. “Although the issue of former President Bhandari was discussed in the meeting, we have not yet reached a concrete conclusion,” he said, adding, “It is a serious matter that a person who has reached the highest level of the state and has been the guardian of the constitution will be active in politics.” In this regard, the party will give a conclusion in due course after holding necessary consultations. ”

The issue of former President Bhandari will also be discussed in the central committee meeting, he added. “There is no reason for the party to be biased and biased towards former President Bhandari. Discussions were held in a serious and positive manner on the highest post that the party sent him to,” gautam said, adding that the central committee meeting to be held next will take a decision on the matter. ”

The statute amendment proposal passed today will be presented in the central committee meeting scheduled to be held on July 15. The UML’s statute general convention is scheduled to be held at sunrise international convention centre at Godawari in Lalitpur from September 20 to 28.
