Most roads, including mechi highway, blocked

Panchthar. Most of the roads in Panchthar including Mechi Highway, Pushpalal (Mid-Hill) Highway and Tamor Corridor have been obstructed due to floods triggered by incessant rains.

TAG_OPEN_div_26 The mechi highway has been obstructed due to flooding caused by rain since last night, damaging the diversion constructed at Henwa Rivulet in Panchthar. Henwa Khola is located on the border of Phidim municipality and Hilihang rural municipality of Panchthar district.

Rupesh Tamang, police inspector TAG_OPEN_div_24 at the District Police Office, Panchthar, said that the flood has flowed above the diversion. Vehicles had been crossing the diversion after the flood on October 12 last year washed away the Bailey Bridge here. Road connectivity to Hilihang, Yangwarak and Falelung rural municipalities of Panchthar and Taplejung district has been cut off due to floods.

Flood has blocked the Tamor Corridor road, which is the expressway. Locals said that vehicles could not be operated due to flooding in the rivulet located on the border of Tumbewa rural municipality of Panchthar and Chaubise rural municipality of Dhankuta. Most of the river bridges along the under-construction road are yet to be constructed.

TAG_OPEN_div_20 The origin section of pushpalal (mid-hill) highway in Panchthar has been obstructed due to floods. According to Rupesh Tamang, police inspector at the District Police Office, Panchthar, the road has been obstructed due to landslide at Rijal bhir at Yangwarak rural municipality-3.

TAG_OPEN_div_18 Similarly, the Bhedatar Ravi Ranke road has also been blocked due to landslides. According to police, landslides occurred at Magarbhir of Falgunanda rural municipality-5 and Rabi Bazaar of Miklajung rural municipality-4.

The road leading to the diversion at Feme Khola on the border of Phidim Municipality-1 and 11 under TAG_OPEN_div_16 the Fidimphalot road has been washed away by the flood. However, efforts have been made to operate the traffic by constructing the road as soon as the flood subsides as the diversion constructed here has not been damaged.

TAG_OPEN_div_14 Similarly, the road connecting Pauwa Bhanjyang to Ranitar on the Mechi Highway has been obstructed due to landslides. According to police, the Sidin-Memeng road has also been obstructed due to the floods damaging the diversion at Ghumnetar on the border of Falelung rural municipality-3 and 7. Similarly, the landslide also destroyed the duty post of the Area Police Office at Ravi of Miklajung rural municipality-2, panchthar police said.
