EVs worth Rs 33.44 billion imported, 2.5 billion more than last year

Kathmandu. The import of electric vehicles (EVs) in Nepal has been steadily increasing. The import of electric vehicles in Nepal has increased by Rs 2.66 billion as compared to the previous year.

According to the Department of Customs, 23,872 electric vehicles worth Rs 30.77 billion were imported into Nepal in the last fiscal year. During this period, the state earned Rs 13.72 billion in revenue.

Similarly, vehicles worth Rs 33.44 billion were imported from different countries in the last fiscal year. The state has received Rs 20.27 billion in taxes from 30,083 vehicles imported in the last one year.

Nepal has imported 25,192 vehicles worth Rs 26.33 billion from China.

Similarly, 4,784 vehicles worth Rs 6.64 billion were imported from India. According to the Department, Nepal imports electric vehicles from China, India, Indonesia, South Korea, Germany, Malaysia and the UNITED States.
