Nepal Army distributes water in Birgunj

Parsa. Shreejung Battalion of Nepal Army has been distributing 100,000 litres of drinking water through tankers on an average every day due to shortage of drinking water in Parsa district including Birgunj Metropolitan City.

The Army has been distributing drinking water thrice a day to the settlements facing acute shortage of drinking water from the water tankers sent by the Madhes state government. Lokendra Karki, commander-in-chief of Shreejung Battalion, said they have been distributing 100,000 litres of drinking water daily through six tankers.

“We have been distributing water through tankers thrice a day targeting the common people facing acute water shortage,” he said, adding, “Water distribution works are also underway in various wards of the metropolis and other municipalities of Parsa.” ’’

Madhes State Government, District Disaster Management Committee, Local Level, Drinking Water Corporation Branch Office, Birgunj and Nepal Army have been distributing water from tankers as per the need to mitigate the shortage and crisis seen in birgunj metropolitan city and surrounding municipalities.

Chief District Officer of Parsa, Ganesh Aryal, said that the water distributed by tankers to the common people facing acute shortage of water has brought relief to a large extent. “People from different wards of Birgunj Metropolitan City call day and night without saying that there is a shortage of water. We have been distributing water from tankers on the basis of requirement. ’’

Drinking water has been distributed through tankers since July 15. The District Administration Office has been distributing drinking water to the places where there is a shortage of drinking water since July 15.

Nepal Army has been distributing water from tankers thrice at Birgunj Metropolitan City-1, Chhapakaiya, Birgunj Metropolitan City-1, Gayatri Tole, Education Office Behind, Birgunj Metropolitan City-11 Radhemai, Sreepur, Birgunj Metropolitan City-14 Bahuari Chowk, Birgunj Metropolitan City-15 Bhishwa, RadheRadhe Colony, Birgunj Metropolitan City-24 Ramgarhwa, Metropolis-26 Sugauli Birta, Husanjahan Chowk and other places.

Similarly, bishrampur and Dakshintol of Bahudarmai municipality-1 in Parsa have also been distributing drinking water twice a day at 10 am and 4 pm. Chief District Officer of Parsa, Aryal, said that the distribution of drinking water from tankers would continue till the problem of drinking water is reduced.
