According to the office, the online application for citizenship recommendation from the ward office has reduced the rush of daily service seekers and the service delivery has also become easier.

Gokarna Raj Suyal, chief of the office, said that the attraction of citizens towards this system, which has been launched with the aim of facilitating the delivery of ‘digital’ services, is increasing. “Making citizenship through the online recommendation system has made it much easier for the service seekers as it reduces procedural hassles and saves time,” he said. According to him, with the introduction of the online system, the recording process has become easier and the service delivery has accelerated. Office chief Suyal said that it has become easier to provide technology-friendly services and control has also been maintained on taking citizenship on the basis of false or fabricated details. He said that this system has made the overall service delivery more effective by making it ‘middleman-free’.

According to the office, a total of 1,581 service seekers have taken citizenship through online recommendations from 40 ward offices including various local levels within five months of the launch of the online system. Of them, 854 are from all 24 wards of Lahan Municipality, 212 from five wards of Bhagwanpur Rural Municipality, 201 from five wards of Sakhuwanankaratti Rural Municipality, 134 from Dhangadhimai Municipality-12, 13 and 14, 120 from Laxmipur Patari Rural Municipality-2 and 6 and 60 from Nawarajpur Rural Municipality-1.

The recommendation process is started online from there after the service seekers take the necessary documents to the concerned ward office. Lahan Area Administration Office has started online citizenship recommendation service for the first time in the district.

Once the recommendation details are entered into the software system, the information is directly accessible on the basis of the registration code in the Citizenship Field Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs. According to the office, the service seekers can easily get citizenship through this process.
