Baglung. Jaimini Municipality has purchased an agricultural ambulance to transport agricultural produce to the market. Also, the municipality has started preparations to operate it from coming August.
Deputy Mayor of the municipality Harihar Sharma said that the municipality purchased the ambulance for Rs 5 million by adding Rs 2.5 million received from the federal government and the same amount. There are 500 agricultural firms, agricultural cooperatives and farmers’ groups active in the municipality area and 4,000 families are engaged in agricultural production. Agricultural ambulances will be used to transport their produce to the market.
The municipality has been providing grants, training and technical support to attract youth and farmers to commercial agriculture. Deputy Mayor Sharma said that the municipality will now take the responsibility of marketing.
The municipality in collaboration with the Prime Minister’s Agricultural Modernization Project has set up an agricultural produce collection centre at Kushmisera and a chilling centre at Upper Damek Sarkuwa.
