Kavrepalanchowk. The flood and landslide-damaged drinking water project at Balthali of Panauti municipality-11 has been reconstructed. The Nepane-Fangkhola Drinking Water and Sanitation Project, which was damaged by the floods and landslides of 2081 BS, has been reconstructed through ‘gravity system’ and water has been provided to the consumers of two settlements of Balthali again.
A total of 123 households of Nepane and 72 households of Dandagaun of Balthali have rejoined the ‘One House, One Dhara’ programme. Chairman of the Consumer Committee, Krishna Kumar Tamang, said that the project, constructed in 2047 BS, has been rebuilt with financial assistance with the help of donor organizations after the devastating earthquake of 2072 BS and floods and landslides of Last September.
According to him, two 20,000 capacity water tanks with 123 taps have been constructed at a cost of Rs 1.9 million. Similarly, Rs 418,000 has been spent from janshramdan.
A total of 123 families belong to the Tamang community. Ward chair Bipin Lama said that local children have also been made aware about the safe use of drinking water, the role of consumers for quality drinking water and sanitation methods.
According to him, drinking water was temporarily managed through the materials available from the city when there was a shortage of drinking water for some time after the disaster.
