Expanding accreditation area for food and food testing

Kathmandu. The Department of Food Technology and Quality Control has expanded the accreditation area in the testing of food and food products. At a press conference organized by the Department here today, it was informed that the field is being expanded to 814 this year as compared to 386 tests conducted in previous years.

Director General of the Department, Sanjeev Kumar Karna, said that the world will recognize any product after testing it and getting the accreditation certificate. It will take three to four years to get the accreditation certificate after the test, he said.

With the expansion of the area, the laboratory under the Department has gained international recognition. The Department believes that this will help maintain the credibility of sample analysis of food and food items and also facilitate export.
