Gulmi. Gulmi: The Kaligandaki Corridor road in Gulmi has been obstructed due to incessant rain since last night. According to the District Police Office, the road has been completely blocked since this afternoon after a landslide occurred at Gargare of Kaligandaki Rural Municipality-1 under the Kaligandaki Corridor.
Similarly, the Ridi-Wamitaksar section, which is the main road of the district, has also been obstructed. Information Officer at the District Police Office and Deputy Superintendent of Police Ganga Bahadur Saru said that the road has been completely blocked for some time due to the rise in water level in dahare rivulet at Satyawati rural municipality-6.
According to him, vehicles going to Butwal via Ridi and from Ridi to Burtibang of Baglung have been stopped midway as the road has been completely blocked due to flood in Dahare rivulet. Stating that police teams have already been mobilized from Johang Khaireni and Purtighat to operate the obstructed road, he said it was difficult to clear the landslide due to continuous rain.
The District Administration Office, Gulmi, has urged the people living in the rivers and coastal areas to stay in safe places during the rainy season. The administration has advised the locals not to go on long journeys except for urgent work.
According to the District Disaster Management Committee, around 280 places in the district have been identified as high risk areas for floods and landslides. Similarly, the committee has urged all to remain on high alert as the water level in Badigad rivulet has started increasing due to incessant rainfall since Saturday.
