Kathmandu. Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakash Man Singh has urged all concerned to complete the works related to development works within the stipulated time frame.

Addressing the annual progress review seminar of the Department of Local Infrastructure and Development for the fiscal year 2081/82 BS here today, he urged the department to work in such a way that the development projects are completed on time. The Department of Local Infrastructure Development under the Ministry of Urban Development has been carrying out works on road infrastructure, suspension bridges, road bridges, administrative buildings at the local level and small irrigation projects.

“People want development works and infrastructure related works to be completed on time. Start working to fulfill their wishes. We will get necessary support from the ministry for this,” he said. Expressing dissatisfaction over the overall progress of the department last year being only 65 percent, he stressed the need to identify and resolve the shortcomings of the past and increase it significantly in the coming year.

Acting Prime Minister Singh also directed to start the work on time by effectively implementing the plans of the coming year by learning from the review of the previous year. He stressed on the need of completing the projects to be carried out by the Local Infrastructure Development Department in a timely and quality manner in the current year.

“Attention should be paid on how to effectively implement the schemes to be done in the current fiscal year 2082/83 BS,” he said. From infrastructure and development works to suspension bridges being constructed in remote places, they should also be completed within the stipulated time. ’

Secretary at the Ministry, Gopal Sigdel, said some of the projects were duplicated and directed the department to proceed with the project only by ensuring necessary coordination with the state and local levels. Director General of the Department Mahesh Chandra Neupane presented a presentation on the annual progress review for the fiscal year 2081/82 BS.
