Ghana’s defence, environment minister among 8 killed in military helicopter crash

Kathmandu. A military helicopter has crashed in Ghana. Eight people, including the defence minister, were killed in the helicopter crash.

Defence Minister Edward Omane Bomah and Minister for Environment, Science and Technology Ibrahim Murtala Muhammad were among those killed. It also included three other officials and three air force personnel.

According to the Ghana Armed Forces, the helicopter left the capital Accra for Obuasi, but lost contact with the radar.

Ghana’s president and government have expressed condolences. According to state media, the crashed helicopter was a utility helicopter. Which is commonly used for transportation and medical evacuation.

The accident took place in southern Ashanti. Wednesday’s crash is considered one of Ghana’s worst plane crashes in more than a decade.
