Kathmandu. A meeting of the National Assembly today unanimously passed the ‘Water Resources Bill, 2081 BS’.
Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka presented a proposal seeking the passage of the Water Resources Bill- 2081 BS. Earlier, discussions were held on the ‘Water Resources Bill, 2081 BS’, received from the House of Representatives along with the report of the Legislation Management Committee.
Lawmakers Bishnu Bahadur Bishwakarma, Krishna Bahadur Rokaya, Radheshyam Paswan, Gopal Bhattarai and Taraman Swar put forth their views on various aspects of the bill.
Responding to queries raised by lawmakers, Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Khadka said the water resources bill has been introduced with the objective of utilizing and managing water resources. He said that all the members were of the opinion that there was no need to mention issues including Dalits in the bill as there was a provision of inclusivity in the constitution itself.
He said that the issue of safety of the dam mentioned in the bill has been further clarified. Similarly, the meeting also passed a condolence motion expressing grief over the demise of khagaraj Sharma, a former member of the House of Representatives, who passed away on July 15 at the age of 85.
