Ministry of Agriculture active to make chemical fertilizers available easily

Kathmandu. The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development has said that the chemical fertilizers are being managed smoothly and adequate attention has been paid to ensure that there are no complaints.

As of now, 28,824 metric tonnes of chemical fertilizers are in stock and 140,504 metric tonnes are in stock. Salt Trading Company and Agricultural Materials Company Limited have the same quantity of fertilizer and arrangements have been made for the distribution of fertilizers.

According to the Ministry, necessary initiatives and efforts are being made to manage chemical fertilizers smoothly during farming. Accordingly, the company has a total of 29,111 metric tonnes of fertilizer in stock. Of these, 16,539 metric tons of urea, 7,653 metric tons of DAP and 4,915 metric tons of potash are in stock.

Similarly, salt trading company has 13,712 metric tons of fertilizer in stock. Of these, 10,984 metric tonnes of urea, 942 metric tonnes of DAP and 1,785 metric tonnes of potash are in stock. The ministry has set a target of managing 600,000 metric tonnes of fertilizer for the current fiscal year. A budget of Rs 28.82 billion has been allocated for this purpose. So far, bids have been invited for the purchase of 300,000 metric tonnes of fertilizer.

Similarly, there are 140,504 metric tonnes of chemical fertilizers in transit condition. Of this, 78,349 metric tonnes are from agricultural equipment company and 62,154 metric tonnes from salt trading. In the last fiscal year, 30,983 metric tons of fertilizer is in stock. This includes 19,923 metric tonnes of urea, 10,448 metric tonnes of DAP and 611 metric tonnes of potash.

According to Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Ramnath Adhikari, the government has taken necessary initiatives so that farmers can easily get chemical fertilizers.
