Lalitpur. Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Sharat Singh Bhandari has said that the government was working with the goal of ending the compulsion of foreign employment.
Speaking at a programme organised by Nepal Youth Foundation and Olgapuri Vocational School on the occasion of International Youth Day 2025 here today, he said the government was emphasizing on policy arrangements to provide employment on the basis of efficiency and merit.
Minister Bhandari said economic prosperity along with employment was essential to sustain the youth in the country. “Every year 500,000 workers enter the market, out of which only 100,000 are able to be absorbed into employment and entrepreneurship in the country. Our goal is to end forced foreign employment in the next 10 years by encouraging domestic employment which is lagging behind due to forced foreign employment,” he said.
Making it clear that foreign employment would be banned without training and skills, Minister Bhandari said the government was encouraging the workers returning from foreign employment to use their skills and capital in the country. He said an agreement would be signed between vocational skill development training academy and Olgapuri Vocational School for skill-based training.
