Gulmi. The Kaligandaki Corridor has been obstructed due to landslides triggered by incessant rains. According to the District Police Office, the kaligandaki corridor road has been completely obstructed today due to landslide at Rakse of Kaligandaki rural municipality-2 under Gulmi section.

Vehicles from both sides are now stranded on the road due to the road blockade. Information Officer at the District Police Office, Ganga Bahadur Saru, said that although the excavator has been kept ready from the road construction company for the operation of the obstructed road, it is difficult to operate the road immediately due to rain and landslide from above the road.

Similarly, the Ridi-Wamitaksar section of the main road of the district has also been obstructed. Information Officer Saru said that the road section has been completely blocked today due to the rise in water level in the Dahare rivulet at Satyawati rural municipality-6.

According to the police, vehicles going to Butwal via Ridi and from Ridi to Burtibang of Baglung have been stopped midway due to the flood in dahare rivulet. A car was also washed away by the Dahare rivulet last week. The District Police Office has already mobilised police teams from Johang Khaireni and Purtighat to operate the obstructed road.

The District Administration Office has urged the people living along the river banks to remain alert and settle in safe places during the rainy season. Similarly, the water level in Badigad rivulet and Kaligandaki river has also started rising due to rain.
