More than half of the confirmed cases are from Pokhara Metropolitan City of Kaski. So far, 432 people have been infected with dengue in Pokhara. In the last three weeks, 129 cases of dengue infection have been reported in Pokhara.
Pokhara, the capital of the province, had become a dengue hotspot last year. More than 8,600 people were infected with dengue in Pokhara Metropolitan City alone that year. Three people from Pokhara died of dengue infection.
It is estimated that the rate of infection will increase in the coming days as the risk of increasing dengue infection will be high from July to October. The Ministry of Health and other concerned agencies have stepped up their activities for the prevention, prevention and management of dengue.
The local levels have been carrying out a campaign to find and destroy the habitat of dengue mosquitoes to prevent the spread of dengue disease. Health workers have suggested that water should not be allowed to accumulate in potholes, old tyres, drums, utensils, etc. in homes, offices and public places to avoid the bite of mosquitoes spreading dengue. Dengue is transmitted by the bite of the female mosquito of the ‘Aedes aegypti’ species.
