Deputy Prime Minister Singh directs to complete the construction of parliament building as per schedule

Kathmandu. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakash Man Singh has directed to complete the construction work of the parliament building as per the schedule. Deputy Prime Minister Singh summoned the construction company to the ministry today and directed the construction company after it was not found to have been carried out as per the schedule submitted by the construction company to the ministry.

Stating that the parliamentary committee, the Prime Minister, the President and all citizens were concerned about the under-construction parliament building in Singha Durbar, he said that the work should be done on time in any situation. Deputy Prime Minister Singh said, “Move forward in a coordinated manner. Work according to schedule. Questions have been raised on the ministry due to the parliament building. In case of any problem, the Ministry will make necessary coordination and facilitation, but delay in the work is not acceptable. ’

He also directed the construction companies to submit regular progress reports and the Building Department to regularly monitor the works. Secretaries of the Ministry, Director General of the Department of Buildings, Project Chiefs, Consultants and construction entrepreneurs were present in the meeting. Joint-Secretary Sunil Thakur, chief of the special building project, briefed the meeting about the progress and status of the under-construction parliament building so far.

Construction of road, water treatment plant, sanitary work and interior decoration are pending around the building, he added. Stating that most of the works have been completed, the contractors had promised to proceed with the remaining works as per the schedule. The construction of the building is scheduled to be completed by mid-December.
