Kathmandu. Stating that the monsoon trough is located in the southern part of the country, the Meteorological Forecasting Division has said that the monsoon is weakening slightly in the country. However, water vapour-rich air continues to enter from the Bay of Bengal.
The weather will be generally cloudy in the hilly regions of the country including Lumbini, Karnali and SudurPaschim provinces and partly cloudy in the rest of the country this afternoon. Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at a few places of the hilly region including Lumbini, Karnali and SudurPaschim provinces and at one or two places of the Tarai region.
Similarly, there will be generally cloudy in the hilly regions of the country including Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces and partly cloudy in other parts of the country tonight. Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at a few places of the Tarai and hilly regions of Madhes, Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places of the hilly region of Koshi and Gandaki provinces.
The Division has warned that there is a risk of landslide and debris flow in the hilly areas of the country due to rain, the water level in big and small rivers and rivulets may rise and the transport sector may be affected.
