Kathmandu. The Committee on Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources has approved the committee’s report on the Bill 2082 BS to amend some Nepal Acts related to land.
Committee President Kusum Devi Thapa said that the committee’s report was approved by a majority in today’s meeting. Lawmakers from the Nepali Congress, Nepal Communist Party (UML) and Civil Liberation Party stood in favour of passing the report. Lawmakers from the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSSP) boycotted the meeting at the time of passing the report.
In the meeting, Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Balram Adhikari, said that the Ministry of Land Management and the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs had amended the bill as per the views of the lawmakers. He urged the lawmakers to move ahead by looking at the issues amended.
Lawmakers Bir Bahadur Balayar and Saraswati Subba, among others, said the report should be passed as a lot of discussions had already taken place. Lawmakers Rupa Sosi Chaudhary and Ashok Chaudhary had demanded that some of the issues mentioned earlier should be removed from the report and time should be given to write different opinions in the report.
