CIAA conducts detailed investigation on 64 complaints in Far-West

Bhimduttanagar. Kanchanpur: The Office of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Kanchanpur, has launched a detailed investigation into 64 complaints.

The REGIONAL office of the CIAA in Mahendranagar has started a detailed investigation after investigating various complaints in the far west. Information Officer at the Commission’s Kanchanpur Office, Chetraj Bhatta, said 1,696 complaints related to abuse of authority and irregularities were registered in the last fiscal year. According to him, 489 complaints have been transferred to the previous fiscal year and 1,198 new cases have been registered.

According to the data of the Commission’s Mahendranagar-based office, the highest number of 404 complaints are from Kailali while the lowest number of 110 complaints have been received from Dadeldhura. Similarly, 246 complaints were filed in Kanchanpur, 210 in Achham, 195 in Bajura, 117 in Bajhang, 210 in Achham, 104 in Doti, 161 in Baitadi and 149 in Darchula. Information Officer Bhatta said that about 50 percent of the complaints received with the Commission are related to the local level.

Similarly, detailed investigation is underway on 13 complaints ÷each in Achham and Baitadi, while six complaints each in Bajura÷ Bajhang and Kanchanpur are under investigation. Similarly, nine complaints from Kailali, seven from Darchula, three from Doti and one from Dadeldhura are also being investigated in detail.

If the irregularities are confirmed after a detailed investigation, the COMMISSION will file a case in the special court. Most of the complaints received in the Commission are due to fears and personal conflicts, so the Commission has been disposing of it through screening and preliminary investigation as there is no necessary evidence. A total of 1,234 complaints have been disposed of in the last fiscal year.

According to the Commission’s Kanchanpur office, 481 complaints have been disposed of through screening and 753 through preliminary investigation. In addition, the COMMISSION has sent 735 complaints to Tameli, two with suggestions, 260 complaints to the concerned authorities for necessary action and 172 complaints have been merged with others.
