Kathmandu. The National Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs (FNCCI), an umbrella body of transport entrepreneurs across the country, has said that the decision to install embossed number plates cannot be implemented immediately.
Issuing a press release today, FNCCI General Secretary Deknath Gautam said the decision could not be implemented immediately as the technology to install embossed number plates has not been developed in transport offices across the country.
“The decision of the Government of Nepal to impose mandatory embossed number plates on public and private vehicles is not justified when the process of installing embossed number plates has been postponed after general protests,” the Federation said in a statement. The Federation has welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision on the issue of wearing embossed number plates.
It has urged the government to re-evaluate the notice issued immediately as the businessmen of public vehicles going to wear embossed number in the current situation have renewed the documents to pay tax on the old number and have taken only the revenue of the embossed number and the collection of revenue without physical infrastructure is not justified.
