Jhapa. The Koshi state government has distributed financial assistance of Rs 88.5 million to the patients suffering from severe diseases.
According to Dr Kenin Rai, information officer at the Ministry of Health of Koshi Province, a total of 1,715 patients received assistance from the ministry in the fiscal year 2081/82 BS.
According to him, financial assistance of Rs 50,000 and Rs 100,000 were distributed to patients suffering from cancer, kidney, spinal injury, head injury and sicklesen anemia on the basis of their applications in the previous fiscal year 2080/81 BS.
He informed that rs 50,000 has been provided to 1,660 patients of cancer, kidney, spinal injury and head injury and Rs 100,000 to 55 patients of kidney transplant. He said the government did not allocate budget for financial assistance in the current fiscal year 2082/83 BS.
“The ministry has not provided such a service in this fiscal year,” rai said. A procedure has been made to provide free health insurance to patients with severe diseases and renew those who have already been insured. We are collecting data from the districts. We will start the work by issuing a notice soon. ’
As per the previous procedure, rs 200,000 would be provided to kidney transplant recipients and Rs 100,000 to those suffering from other serious diseases. But the government had decided to distribute only half last year due to high demand and lack of budget.
He informed that the ministry has stopped receiving applications since March 2080 BS. For the first time in the province, financial assistance was distributed to the patients suffering from severe diseases from the fiscal year 2079/80 BS.
