Jumla. The Karnali Highway has been obstructed due to a landslide at Gagnekhola of Kalikot along the Karnali Highway road last night. Chief of Jumla Road Division Office, Dipendra Kumar Chaudhary, said that the road has been obstructed due to landslide at Gagnekhola of Kalikot due to incessant rain.
He said that everyone has been informed through a public notice that they should walk only after taking precautions while traveling during the rainy season and do not travel during the night.
Similarly, the Dehimadoun-Giregada road in Baitadi has been obstructed due to landslides triggered by rain. The road has been obstructed due to landslide near Sundarkhali of Dasharathchand municipality-2.
Baitadi Police Spokesperson Balram Pandey said that although efforts were being made to open the blocked road, the problem was caused due to stones. Though the road division office’s equipment tried to clear the landslide, the problem was caused due to the stones that fell along with the landslide, he said.
“Till last night, the JCV tried to clear the landslide but it could not be possible due to the huge stones,” he said. Today, stones will be removed with the help of excavators and roads will be operated, he said.
Gaura Festival is being celebrated in Baitadi and far-western region today. Vehicular movement has come to a complete halt due to the road blockade. Passengers returning home for Gaura have been stranded in the middle of the road due to the closure of vehicular traffic. According to the police, it will take some time for the traffic to resume after clearing the landslide.
